Goodbye to New York and America

The last day was Friday. As this was here, we all thought: "Already or Finally?" It was really cool to be in  America and to see a country so far away from home. And at this point I already want to thank Herr Prof. Baier for preparing such a great journey for us. Also that he trusted us and went with us on top of the One World Trade Center. I want to thank you for being a great guide and showing us the most important things in America.

But Friday wasn't a lazy day. At nine we walked to the Occulus(Subway) and went to the Highline. The Highline is something, that is a little bit above the normal streets. You can walk on the Highline in several directions and everywhere is some green and you have a perfect view through the avenues and streets. We meet some Switzerlands on the Highline which was pretty funny.

Afterwards we ate a little bit in groups and then Benjamin and I went East to the coast and made some super extra fotos, that nobody else has. Then we went back to the hotel and from there to Newark, where went on the plane to Frankfurt. We flew in the night and it was a really special feeling for me. After a long stay in Frankfurt we finally boarded on our plane to Austria and flew home.

Now I want to thank Mr. Baier again for organising this trip for us and I think, we all had a great time in America. But I also want to thank Mr. Landa for accompanying us on this field trip. I've couldn't imagine somebody else going with us. And thanks to my classmates that they didn't make anything stupid and maybe ruined our whole trip. Thank you all.

Wildlife from the East Coast

For me, the USA was not only beautiful from the sights, but also photographically I could implement a lot. I saw many different species of animals, like a lot of deer, a black bear, opossums, seagulls and a bald eagle (which is very rare to see).

Here’s a picture of a mother deer and her fawn:

For me the most interesting animal to photograph was the black-headed Gull, which my host family and I saw in Maine on the last weekend.

We got up at 5:30 a.m to see the sunrise. It was really cold outside and we had to wear a lot of layers!

And last, but not least a picture my host sister took of me in Maine! :D

my favorite moments

 Hey everyone,

Our trip has come to an end but even though the goodbyes were really hard we are all glad to be back home. So, now that we finished our trip it will be easier to tell you what I enjoyed the most.

First of all, Six flags with my friends and our hosts. Even though I’m scared of hights I risked it and tried all the  rollercoasters. At 6pm some zombies (people dressed as zombies, of course) scared the people walking around Six flags. It was amazing!

Second place goes to… *drum roll*,

Time Square, of course! We had the opportunity to walk around Time Square in groups of four persons. My group decided to try an Asian restaurant and it was a little too spicy for some of us.

And last but not least, the volleyball games at Conval and my first time seing such awesome team spirit. If I had the chance to visit Peterborough once again I’d definitely do it! No doubt about that!

Last day in NYC

This friday was our last day in New York City and in the United States in general. Unfortunately, our bus to Newark Liberty International Airport departed quite early, so we had to already be back at our hotel at 2 p.m. Nonetheless, we still had more than enough time to take a walk on the "High Line". It is a 2.33-kilometres-long elevated park that was built on former railroads on the west side of Manhattan.

During our walk we got to see many famous buildings such as the "Vessel" and 520 West 28th designed by the famous architect Zaha Hadid. On top of that, the view of the skyscrapers was absolutely fantastic.

At around noon we descended from the High Line and took the Subway back to the station "World Trade Center" close to our hotel. There, we ate lunch and after that went back to our hotel to get on our bus to the airport. A short but definitely fun day.
