Sunday, October 16th
The day started off with breakfast where my host family had made some delicious American pancakes. After that, my host brother showed me some places in the neighborhood, including Cunningham Pond, a small lake near Peterborough. Later, we hiked up Pack Monadnock. Up there, volunteers from the NH Audubon organization watch and count all sorts of different birds that fly by and migrate to another place. The numbers of specific birds says a lot about the general health of the natural ecosystem, so having some statistics about them is very important. There was also an observation tower at Mount Monadnock where we could get a stunning panorama view. I took a 360° photo sphere there that I then uploaded onto Google Maps.
In the afternoon, my host family and I went apple picking. There they had fields with a lot of apple trees and you could pay some money to get bags that you were then allowed to fill with apples by simply picking them yourself. They also had a small market there selling all sorts of different things and there was a milk truck giving out free chocolate milk.
In the evening, I played some table tennis with my host brother and we all played a dice game called Qwixx.
