First, Johanna, Charlotte, Marlene, Lisa and I got to tell Frau Cocannon’s German class about Austrian Folk Traditions! It well pretty well but since it was the first time we were all a little bit nervous. Ultimately, we all got an A! — One presentation down, two to go!!
Afterward, we all hung out in the library and talked about our upcoming plans!
Next up: Field trip to an Apple Orchard with Johanna and my host parents!
We started with a trip to Dunkin’ Donuts where I got a Peanut Butter Cup Latte and Johanna got a Pumpkin Spice Latte which were both wicked good! (Fun fact: The word “wicked“ is used a lot in New Hampshire!)
Here are a few highlights from the Apple Orchard:
We also walked around the shop at the Apple Orchard and Johanna got some delicious Maple Syrup and I got to try my first honey stick!
Later on, we drove down to Concord and saw some of the sights which included the New Hampshire State House! It was really cool to walk in and see all the architecture. Especially, the marble stairs and all of the currency that tourists have added for everyone else to see!
I also met one of the 400 New Hampshire State Representatives!
Lunch at Popover’s! (Food actually wasn’t that great but the Clam Chowder Soup definitely hit the spot!)
Last but not least, we got to visit the ocean down in Portsmouth! It was sooo cool! We got to take really cool pictures, collect a lot of unique shells and thankfully, nobody fell in but we did get to put our feet in the water!
I had the best time and it was so fun hanging out with Jo and my host parents! They took us to some beautiful places and showed us all the highlights and pointed out the mansion-like houses—it’s insane how enormous the houses are! It's unbelievable!
