Presentations about Austria
Today was a very exciting day for all of the Austrian students: As you might know, we've been preparing presentations about Austria and our culture since September in our module "US-American Culture" and today we finally had the chance to hold them in front of the US-American students.
My group talked about the famous sights in Salzburg in "German 1". After we were done with the presentation, the other students practiced German phrases with us and we also answered a lot of questions about Austria. We're definitely looking forward to presenting again next week!Hike up North Pack Monadnock
At 9 AM, some of us met up in front of the high school to get picked up to go on a hike organised by Lisa's hosts. During the ride we were told that "pack" is the Native American word for "little", but nevertheless, it still took us quite a while to reach the summit.
After a 15 minute drive, we arrived at our starting point. As soon as everyone was ready, we started walking up the mountain. Thanks to the good weather we could see the sun shining through the leaves and the whole trail was just very beautiful. During the whole hike Herr Prof. Baier told us many facts about the nature, which was also very interesting.
Finally, after around two hours, we reached the summit. After taking some pictures together we started walking up the "Cliff Trail". We were all very excited to see the view from the cliff and were not disappointed when we got there. Seeing the colourful trees from the top was a breathtaking experience. We could even see Boston on the horizon, it's definitely not something you get to see back in Salzburg.
At 1:30 PM we were back where we started and everybody was looking forward to taking a rest in the car. Even though a lot of us go hiking in our free time in Austria, today was still a very memorable and amazing experience! We're glad that we had the chance to go on this little trip and would definitely recommend going on a hike here during autumn!
